The word cloud I generated, using Tagul (which I found to be more convenient than WordItOut and Wordle) is based on the BBC's biographical article about Richard I. The aim is to practice functional reading, learn new words and learn history.
I plan to use the word cloud as an introduction to the topic.
First, the students must guess the topic of the lesson, the next task will be to translate all the unknown words and find the places on the map. Then they will try to guess, how the people, places and activities are related to each other. The students may try to create a plot line of their own, using the data.
After reading the text the students will suggest their own word clouds of the words that seemed to be the most relevant/important to them.
